Dr. Karita Neville (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) is the main villainess from "Greater Good," the antepenultimate episode of CSI: NY's fifth season (airdate May 6, 2009). She is a surgeon and the daughter of Talmadge Neville, who was released from prison after serving 18 months for vehicular manslaughter.
Talmadge was convicted in the vehicular death of 16-year-old Maris Donovan, which happened on May 15, 2007. Mac Taylor, who was at the scene on the night in question, had always suspected that Talmadge took the rap for someone else, and his investigation revealed that Talmadge was actually the passenger, not the driver, that evening. After Mac sees Karita at the hospital visiting Lindsay and Danny Messer (as Lindsay was in labor), he began to suspect that Karita was the actual driver. His suspicions were confirmed when it was revealed that someone checked on Mavis at the scene, and that led to Karita being revealed as the driver.
However, when Stella Bonasera confronted Karita at the hospital, the villainess denied being in the car, claiming that her father was at the accident. Stella revealed that Karita had a DWI charge eight years ago, and another incident would lead to a conviction and a 15 year sentence, and that served as a reason for Talmadge to cover for her. Even so, the evil Karita continued to deny being in the car, and even added that a debt was paid when Talmadge served the sentence--a callous claim that Stella disagreed with. Later in the episode's climax, however, Karita appeared at the station to confess to everything, and it was during the climax that all of the details were revealed.
On that night, Talmadge and Karita were celebrating the end of the latter's residency, and despite having already consumed a glass of wine, Karita got behind the wheel while Talmadge was texting his son (Karita's brother) regarding a Super Bowl bet. It was during this drive that Karita ran over and killed Maris, and after the accident, Talmadge urged Karita to leave the scene, as her job as a surgeon was at risk. Despite this, Karita returned to the scene later on to check on Maris, while pretending not to know Talmadge. During her confession, Karita stated that she wasn't drunk due to only having one glass of wine, and she added that she begged her father to let her take responsibility, only to be told that they were in too deep. The villainess stated that Talmadge believed their cover-up and him taking the rap were for the greater good. During Mac's latest encounter with Talmadge, he stated that no DA would prosecute the case after the truth was revealed, meaning that Karita received no punishment for her actions.
