Dr. Donna Gooden, nicknamed Doc Gooden (Sheryl Lee Diamond), is a villainess from "Dual Spires," episode 5.12 of Psych (airdate December 1, 2010). She is the physician in the titular small town of Dual Spires, as well as the therapist for Paula Merral, a teenage girl who was dating Randy Jackson, the son of town sheriff Andrew Jackson.
As revealed later on, Dr. Gooden and Sheriff Jackson were descendants of two of the three leading and founding families of the town; Robert Barker was the other. Due to Donna's inability to conceive and the sheriff dying of cancer, Randy was the town's last hope of keeping their idyllic way of life going. It was threatened when Paula (who was Robert's illegitimate daughter; he posed her as his niece) not only wanted to leave Dual Spires and see the world, she convinced Randy to go with her. With that, Donna and Sheriff Jackson colluded to drown Paula, and when town librarian Maudette Hornsby received emails from Paula, she ended up murdered by the villainous duo, with Jackson providing the rope to make it look like Maudette hung herself.
Donna's reveal came in a cabin where Shawn and Gus were with Robert and Father Westley; coming after Robert revealed that he cheated on his wife with her sister, which resulted in Paula being born. Donna and Jackson entered the cabin, with the latter holding the group at gunpoint, and it was at that moment that Shawn revealed their entire murderous scheme. The pair then attempted to kill all four people, with the evil Donna brandishing a syringe, but they were stopped by Lassiter and Jules, who arrested the villains.
Trivia[]
- The episode was Psych's homage to Twin Peaks, with several of the show's cast members making guest appearances. Sheryl Lee Diamond, ironically, played the ill-fated Laura Palmer.
