Dione was the commander of the spacecraft, whose mission was to destroy the population on the planet Delta in her solar system. In her solar system, there was a war between two inhabited planets, one of which was the patriarchy, and the other was matriarchy. She appears in the "The Last Enemy" is the twenty-fourth and final episode of the first series of Space: 1999..She was played by actress Caroline Mortimer.
Her ship landed on the Moon in order to take an important strategic position for the shelling. After her ship was seemly destroyed in a retaliatory bombardment by the opposed planet, she sought sanctuary among Moon-base Alpha. after talking to, bonding with, and seemly developing a genuine if extremely and mutually grudging rapport with Commander Koenig, she escaped back to her ship by means of some sort of teleportation, the ship was in fact, fully functional, with everything she said about being the sole survivor and helping to negotiate a cease fire with the opposing planet being a ruse to buy time for her to launch a decisive missile attack and end the war in her planet's favor. Commander Koenig responds by using a remote controlled Moonbuggy, carrying a spacesuit filled with explosives, to destroy Dione's ship, presumably killing her in the process.
Personality[]
While her bonding with Koenig was seemingly entirely, shamelessly, uncaringly, manipulative, it is implied she did develop some small amount of care for the man, showing increasing worry and uncharacteristic emotion when she thought he was coming toward her ship on the moon buggy amidst the missile bombardment. She said she did want him to survive, repeatedly pleading with him to go back to his base or at least take cover from the missiles. It seemed she did like him, but tragically, it just wasn't enough to deter her from proceeding with her attack plans.
