Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) is the main antagonist of the 2023 Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero film The Marvels, a sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel and a continuation to the 2022 miniseries Ms. Marvel.
She is a revolutionary Kree warlady and Accuser who is bent on restoring Hala, the Kree homeworld, after its long civil war years after the Supreme Intelligence's defeat by Carol Danvers, better known as Captain Marvel. Eventually, Dar-Benn ends up causing a wormhole in the galaxy in order to drain other planets of their resources, prompting Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) and Monica Rambeau to team up to stop her.
History[]
Early Life[]
Dar-Benn was one of the many Kree living on the planet of Hala and she was even present during Captain Marvel's battle with the Supreme Intelligence. After Captain Marvel destored the Supreme Intelligence, Hala went into crisis and began to die. It is here where Dar-Benn rose to power, gaining support from the Kree populus. Eventually, she rose to the rank of Accuser.
The Marvels[]
Dar-Benn went to retreieve the two bangles from a distant planet. When she found out that only one bangle was burried on the planet, she became enraged. One of her soldiers told her that the bangle must be located on a different world, and Dar-Benn questioned where this might be.
Dar-Ben then travelled to the Skrull refugee planet, where she planned to steal its atmpshere using the bangle. She had a negotiation meeting with the Kree, though it was inturrupted by Captain Marvel and Kamala Kahn. After this, Dar-Benn opened a portal and started transferring the planet's atmosphere to Hala. While the Marvel's tried to save the Skrulls, there were still several deaths. Dar-Benn then returned to Hala and told the other Kree of her victory.
Dar-Benn then went to the ocean planet Adalah to steal its ocean, this time accompanied bu a Kree fleet. She briefly enganed in a battle with an Adalan army. Despite the Marvel's effors, Dar-Benn was once again successful.
Dar-Benn's final plot had her steal the sun from the Earth. This time she engaged in a physical confrontation with the Marvel's. Despite her bangle, she could not overcome the three heroes, and she was defeated. Kamala suggested to Dar-Benn that Captain Marvel use her powers to reignite Hala's sun, instead of having Dar-Benn steal the sun from Earth. Dar-Benn seemed to agree, but it was only a trick to catch the team off-guard. She then started taking the sun, but it proved too much for her, and she disintegrated.
Personality[]
One of Dar-benn's most prominant traits is her jingoistic attitude towards the Kree. She has excessive pride in the planet, and is even willing to destroy civilizations that have wronged the Kree. She is also extremely vengeful, as she tried to destroy Earth just to spite Captain Marvel. However, Dar-Benn is clearly a vengeful person. Despite this, Dar-Benn is not a purely evil individual. She genuinely cares about restoring her planet and was even willing to die to do so.

- In real life, Dar-Benn's actress Zawe Ashton is married to Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki Laufeyson and some of his variants in other MCU media.
