Clara Perazzo

Vengeful murderer Clara Perazzo

Clara Perazzo (Judith Blazer) is a villainess from "Couples", the penultimate episode of the thirteenth season of Law & Order (airdate May 21, 2003). She was the wife of Dominick "Dom" Perazzo, who she learned was cheating on her with Joyce McGinty sometime prior to the episode's events. Her first appearance of the episode had her killing Dom by repeatedly running him over with the Cadillac her husband had recently bought her, all while Joyce attempted in vain to stop her.

Detectives Lennie Briscoe and Ed Green happened upon the horrific scene, with the Ed ordering Clara at gunpoint to get out of the car, with Green handcuffing and arresting her. Under interrogation with Green, Clara recounted how smitten she was with Dom since sixth grade, even comparing themselves to the mythological figures Zeus and Leda. Meanwhile, though, Joyce revealed to Briscoe how troubled Dom's marriage to Clara was, citing how nothing Dom did for his wife was good enough for her. Clara continued to use mythological rhetoric to justify her deranged actions before her lawyer Gwen Berman arrived, ending the interview.

At her trial, against the advice of her lawyer, Clara pled guilty and freely (and remorselessly) admitted to murdering her husband, arguing against Berman's attempts to claim Clara was mentally disturbed by professing that she knew exactly what she was doing. After Judge Janice Goldberg expressed approval of Clara's upfront demeanor and asked if Dom had been cheating on her, Clara thanked the judge and stated that he had. However, Clara revealed that while she could live with her husband's infidelity, she wouldn't "go under the knife for anyone"; indicating that she had gotten breast implants and was enraged at Dom for (in her mind) not appreciating her doing so for him. Clara was presumably convicted (off-screen) for killing Dom.
