Caroline Whitman

Caroline Whitman is the villainess of "Mind Games", a Season 7 episode of the tv series "Walker, Texas Ranger". She was portrayed by Roxanne Hart.

Summary

Caroline enters the episode walking into her home w/her lover Peter (also her husband Brian's best friend) when they are confronted by Brian, who reveals that he knows of their affair. In addition, he was going to alert the police after finding out that the pair had stolen money from his family's trust. When Brian went to the phone to call the authorities, Caroline crept behind him, grabbed a blunt object, & bashed him in the back of his skull, killing him. While Peter was shocked, Caroline replied to the murder by stating, "Oh, broke a nail".

The next day, Brian's body is found in his family's lake. Peter tells family friend C.D. that Brian went fishing earlier that morning, hit an underwater stump, fell overboard, & banged his head underwater. Caroline is shown consoling her mother-in-law Maisie, telling C.D that the family was in 'a state of shock'. At the same time Peter has a look of remorse while listening to her, and when they head back inside the house, she gives him a look of 'getting away w/murder'.

The two are next seen in bed, w/Peter remarking how they got lucky that water was found in Brian's lungs, according to his autopsy. Caroline reminds Peter that that means Brian was alive when they put him in, thus making him just as guilty as her. Peter brushes it off & celebrates the half of the trust that Caroline is to receive. However, Caroline tells him her plan to receive the full trust by steadily drugging Maisie w/MDMA & having her proven incompetent. She starts by drugging her tea later that day.

The plan begins to work as Maisie starts misplacing things, having dizzy spells & hallucinating images, like seeing Brian in his boat alive on the lake. Eventually, Peter & Caroline come to Maisie and ask to relieve her of the stress of controlling the trust. She reluctantly agrees, and pending a competency hearing, it'll be official. After this, C.D. finds out that the lake was drudged of its fish and Brian couldn't have went on a fishing trip that morning. When he goes to check on Maisie, Peter & Caroline take them both hostage, w/the plan of killing them both w/Brian's pistol & making it look like a murder-suicide. Just when Caroline went to shoot, Walker & Trivette bust in, taking both into custody.
