Carmen Salazar (Sandra Teles) is a hidden villainess from "Legacy," episode 2.06 of Ransom (airdate May 12, 2018). She is the second wife of crime boss Victor Salazar, and the stepmother of Victor's sons, Rafael and Juan.
As revealed later on in the episode, Carmen was having an affair with Rafael, and after the family abducted surgeon Annette Beaumont (the mother of Eric Beaumont) and ordered her to work on Victor due to his bad heart, the couple conspired to kill Victor. Rafael ordered a lethal dose of potassium chloride, which would induce heart failure, and laced Victor's rosin bag with the substance. The plan was make Victor's death look like a botched operation killed him, and the planned result would see Rafael take over the family business and be with Carmen, while Carmen (who grew up poor in Jacksonville) would continue living in the lap of luxury.
During Eric's first encounter with the Salazars, it was Maxine Carlson who figured out that Carmen was having an affair, as she was shown drinking cranberry juice--which was a cure for UTIs. Eric later confronted Carmen after learning about the potassium chloride being ordered, and he later revealed that Carmen's affair was with one of her stepsons. Eric asked Carmen who made the order, with the villainess responding that Juan was the culprit, doing so to cover for Rafael. After Eric left, the evil Carmen informed Rafael that he was being suspected, leading to him heading to where Victor was being operated on. He was spotted, however, by Eric, Maxine, and Oliver Yates, and it was after this that Eric entered and revealed Rafael and Carmen's plan to Juan. An angry Juan shot Rafael (non-fatally), but was stopped by Eric from killing his brother. Carmen's fate wasn't directly revealed, but it can be assumed that she was arrested for the attempt to kill her husband.
