Caren Pedroni (Kay Wilson) is the main villainess from "Cold Blooded," episode 2.14 of Body of Proof (airdate February 14, 2012). She is the wife of Anthony Pedroni, who is the son and nephew of Henry Pedroni and Joe Sanella (respectively), the co-owners of Sanella's restaurant.

Caren and Anthony returned to the restaurant to tend to Henry, who was suffering from early onset Alzheimer's. However, Joe needed the couple to help run the restaurant, which Anthony hated, hence why he left in the first place. Anthony never gained enough nerve to confront his uncle about his feelings about working at Sanella's, but Caren did. When Joe turned down Annabelle Kip's offer to sell the restaurant to her for $2 million, Caren confronted her uncle-in-law over his decision, while voicing her and Anthony's desire to move on from the business. However, Joe responded by telling Caren that she would never be part of the family, and in a fit of rage, Caren bludgeoned Joe with a meat tenderizer, knocking him unconscious. After hearing Henry arrive, the evil Caren placed Joe inside the freezer, and after two hours, Joe froze to death.

Bacteria from an organic farm revealed Caren as the killer, and she was confronted with the facts by Megan Hunt (along with Detective Morris). After denying everything at first, Caren confessed to the murder, revealing her anger at Joe over his decision not to sell and for dismissing her as a family member. She believed that Joe was already dead once she hit him, only for Megan to inform the villainess that Joe took two hours to freeze to death. Following her confession, Caren was arrested (off-screen).

Quotes[]

  • "I told Joe that selling the restaurant was the best thing for the family. We could all have our own lives. Henry could get better care. You know what he said to me? 'You will never be part of this family, Caren.' After all that I've done, all that I sacrificed, I grabbed the tenderizer, and I just lost it!" (Caren confessing to killing Joe Sanella).
