Candace Ford (Bellamy Young) is a hidden villainess from "Pretty Dead," the penultimate episode of Castle's third season (airdate May 9, 2011). She is the coordinator of Baron's All-American Beauty Pageant.
Candace was entering her 18th year in her position, and all of her previous years went without incident. However, the pageant's proceedings were derailed by scheming contestant Amber Middleberry, as Amber was engaged in an affair with sponsor Victor Baron. The affair was part of Amber's plan to blackmail Victor into helping her win the crown, and after she was approached by Victor regarding the scheme, Candace was upset over the incident, but decided to give in despite her indignation. During the pageant, the evil Candace rigged the Q&A portion by spoon-feeding the answers to Amber, which helped Amber's progression.
After Amber was found murdered, Victor was a suspect, but during Castle and Beckett's encounter, he revealed that Amber was blackmailing him and that he had asked Candace to "take care of it." Those words led to the belief that Candace had killed Amber to keep her from ruining the pageant, only for Candace to reveal her role as a villainous conspirator in rigging the contest. Candace was cleared in Amber's murder when her alibi checked out; she was at a motel with Justin Hankel, who was revealed as Amber's killer. Her fate beyond that, however, was not revealed.
