Aspasia (Helga Line) is a villainess in the 1964 Italian peplum film “The Revolt of the Seven”.  The original title was “La Rivolta Del Sette”, and it is often referred to as “The Spartan Gladiators”.  It was the unofficial sequel to the film “The Secret Seven”.

Aspasia is a very rich Roman lady, but she does not have power which she most certainly wishes to possess.  She is engaged to be married to Sar (Nando Gazzolo) who can give her that power, but she loves Keros (Tony Russel) who cannot give that to her.  While Aspasia is visiting with Keros, his brother Critone (Walter Maestosi) came to warn him that Sar plans to betray them.  Sar had planned to use a golden statuette to forge an alliance with a neighboring country that would result in its citizens becoming life-long slaves.  As a result Sar was betraying the Achea League which was set up to unite all of Greece.  Critone had stolen it back, but he died before he could reveal its hiding place.

Sar’s men arrived at the home of Keros and found the dead gladiator.  As a result, Keros was arrested and tortured.  In addition, the guard found a golden bracelet belonging to Aspasia there, but used discretion in not telling Sar.

Keros is taken to a gladiator training facility where he is beaten to a pulp by the men.  Aspasia visited him while recovering and told him to reveal where the golden statuette is.  They can use it to go away together.  After returning to Sar she informs him that Keros was unable to tell him anything about the statuette.  As a result, the torturing continued for Keros.

Eventually, Keros was able to win the trust of the other gladiators with his bravery and fighting skills.  With the help of one of the other gladiators, Keros was able to escape.  He took up refuge with a traveling acting show, which included Helea (Paola Pitti).

During a religious ceremony at the Temple of Athens the golden statuette reappeared as one of the offerings from a maiden.  However, it was quickly stolen by one of Keros’ newfound friends dressed as a maiden making offerings.

Keros and his men began to head toward Athens with a growing army of men.  Sar’s general advised Aspasia to take sides with Keros and make an alliance with him in order to become queen.  Aspasia paid him with a bag of coins, which when he touched it was pricked with poison from spikes inside the bag.  Sar had witnessed this betrayal and now understood that Aspasia was out for herself only.

Aspasia rode out to meet Keros.  However, her former husband warned Keros that she was not to be trusted.  In addition, by this time Keros was in love with Helea.

Helea was kidnapped by Aspasia and brought to a cave where she planned to use her to her advantage. However, Sar showed and foiled her plan.  Aspasia tried to convince him that she planned to present Helea as a present to him.  However, Sar knew what she was up to and forced her to touch her own poison amulet he had taken earlier.  As a result, Aspasia was killed from her own device.

Keros was forced to trade Sar the statuette for the freedom of Helea.  He also removed the body of Aspasia and placed it in a safe place.  He made the comment that he always loved her.

Helea was recaptured by Keros and returned her to Sparta.  Keros was able to bring a major revolt to Sparta.  Sar was killed by a spear after a mud fight with Keros.
