Anya Sanchez (Alicia Lagano) is the villainess of "Pool Shark", episode 11.02 of CSI (airdate September 30, 2010). Her brief backstory reveals that she has a long criminal record for theft and grand larceny. The episode has Anya's latest targeted victim being Desiree McQuire, who was staying at the Golden Nugget hotel/casino.

In order to go about robbing Desiree, the evil Anya bought a new batch of heroin from a dealer and injected Desiree while she was in the hotel pool, after which she stripped Desiree of her jewelry. Unbeknownst to Anya, however, Desiree suffered an overdose as a result of Anya's injection, and her blood from the injection mark attracted a shark placed in the pool by Danny Macklin, leading the shark to tear Desiree's arm off.

Desiree's death was initially attributed to the shark attack, but the CSI's investigation revealed that the shark attacked Desiree after she dead and that she had died of a heroin overdose. Anya's reveal as Desiree's killer was made when Henry Andrews discovered the syringe she used to drug Desiree at the bottom of the pool, with Nick Stokes finding Anya's fingerprint on the syringe and using it to uncover her criminal history. Nick and Jim Brass brought Anya in for questioning and showed her her collection of stolen jewelry, with Nick deducing that the earrings Anya was wearing belonged to Desiree.

After boasting about how familiar she was with how interrogations worked and attempting to bribe Stokes and Brass into letting her go by offering them some of her stolen jewelry, Anya confessed to drugging Desiree to rob her, claiming she had "sticky fingers" sometimes. Anya also boasted that she would just have to take a few days off work until she could post her bail after she was arrested, only to be stunned to learn from Stokes and Brass about Desiree's overdose, which meant she would be going to jail for murder. Afterwards, Anya was arrested (off-screen) for robbing and killing Desiree.
