As the episode revealed, Anna orchestrated the escape, doing so with the help of an artifact. The artifact she used was the Pompeii Amphora, an antique jar that was owned by the survivor of the Mount Vesuvius eruption, which also releases lava when opened. The villainous Anna used the jar to destroy one of the prison's walls, allowing both Davis and Barton to escape.
The pair of inmates later met Anna and got inside her truck, where Anna and Davis passionately locked lips. The villainess showed Davis the jar and informed him about its powers, with the couple later using it to rob a bank. Pete Lattimer, Myka Bering, and Steve Jinks were on the case, along with Liam Napier (a US Marshal and Jinks' ex-boyfriend), and it was Pete and Jinks who learned about Anna and her connection to Davis. The group later found Anna inside the truck, but as for Davis, he was found dead under molten lava, as Barton used the jar on him.
Anna later confessed to everything and revealed her connection to the artifact; it belonged to her late grandmother. Anna stated that after her grandmother's passing, the jar (among other things) ended up left in her possession, and afterwards, she was arrested (off-screen) for her role in the prison break.
